Can you help me feel less scared of bees by telling me all the good things about them. My anxiety makes me uncomfortable around them but I don’t want to dislike bees

If caught out in rain storms, they hide under handy leaves as if they were umbrellas.

They can and do get drunk on fermenting fruit.

They make an inaudible to humans ‘oop’ sound when they bump into each other by accident.

They can carry up to half their weight in pollen and nectar. If they need to, they can carry a full 80% of their weight for short distances.

BUTT WIGGLE LANGUAGE

They are very clean and will groom their sisters and themselves often.

A beehive is one of the cleanest and most sterile places in nature.

They don’t like to sting and if slightly annoyed will first gently headbutt you to indicate that fact.

They fan the hive to keep it cool in hot weather.

Also! If you leave a bowl with pebbles and some water in it outside in the summer, you can have a little bee brigade coming and hydrating, and also get to watch them from the safety of the other side of a window

YES!

BEES RECOGNIZE PEOPLE!

The bees around my grandmas house know not to buzz around my (younger) brothers and cousins who will seat at them but me and my grams are always in the plants so it’s usual for a bee to buzz around our heads or land on her hat for a small break

They do! I think it’s a scent thing; bees have an excellent sense of smell.

They definitely know me. They get Touchy if someone else fools around with the hives, but with me they’re mostly chill. Only time I really get stung is if it’s my own fault (I E, a bee crawled up my pants, I didn’t notice and sat on it) or when it’s fall and they’re grumpy.

When I was little, I used to be terrified of bees because I thought that being stung was the most painful thing that could ever happen to me. I’m not sure why I thought that, I was four.

A couple years ago, my mom and I were doing this charity gift wrapping thing for seniors who don’t have family to give them winter holiday presents, and this bee comes buzzing into the room from the open door and lands on my arm and just kind of sits there for a minute. And my mom is like, oh no, don’t panic. And I looked down at the little bee and said, “Excuse you. I am not a flower. I don’t have anything for you. You should go back outside.” And the little be looked up at me for a second, popped up in the air, and just buzzed off. My mom was so surprised.

I have found since reaching adulthood that most of the time if a bee is buzzing around you, it will not sting you if you don’t freak out at it. I have to keep telling my roommate that.
